About Courtney

I tell stories. As an editor, writer, and brand leader, the stories I tell might include a long-from essay on the history of Pokémon, or a research-backed feature exploring how animals express kindness and empathy. Sometimes my stories include a brand’s narrative, leveraging its established voice to publish across new and exciting topics. I’ve authored several single-topic special issues (known in the biz as “bookazines”). I write about health, wellness, food, science, and the animal experience for magazine brands such as EatingWell, Time Magazine, LIFE Magazine, Health, Parents, Real Simple, and the Los Angeles Times. My editing work includes non-fiction essays and reported features. I develop single issue magazines and trade books for high-profile brands including EatingWell, Time Magazine, LIFE Magazine, and PawPrint Magazine. While ushering more than 70 issues a year into print, I juggle long-lead subjects with opportunistic issues on fast-paced closes, such news-driven coverage and celebrity tributes. In the culinary space I have experience editing recipes, styling nutritional information, and leading cover shoots.

With more than a decade of experience in the publishing industry, I have a passion for storytelling and shaping content, ranging from long-form narrative to service copy, according to a brand’s unique voice. As a brand leader, I take ownership of a brand’s publishing schedule, driving ideation and project schedules while guiding an issue through completion. I work directly with brands like National Geographic, Rolling Stone, and History Channel to oversee their special edition publishing programs. I’m well-versed in publishing best practices, including cover design, production, printing standards, preparing SEO-friendly copy for Amazon and Print on Demand, and developing marketing strategies to build awareness across social media.

I graduated from Binghamton University in 2014 (go Bearcats!), and I’m excited about everything gaming, fantasy, food, science, wellness, and animals. When I’m not writing or editing you can find me cooking in my New York City apartment, seeking out new restaurants, and running my years-long Dungeons & Dragons campaign.

I can be found at courtneymifsud1@gmail.com if you’d like to connect. I’d love to tell stories with you.
